Isn't Mike Williams eligible for the NFL Draft?

Oct 6, 2015, 1:26 PM

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-dr-saturday/clemson-wr-mike-williams-unlikely-to-return-this-season-135436767.html

Why are they acting like he will be back next year?

Didn't some CBS service have him tabbed as the #1 Ranked WR prospect? IF that's the case... he gone. Granted he will drop some based on the injury uncertainty but I don't think that much. Am I missing something?

I'll be surprised if he comes back.

He's a proven commodity. I don't think his stock will drop much at all from the injury.

May be a difficult task to be drafted

immediately after having a broken neck. I would think a lot of NFL dudes may want to see him play some more college ball to ensure he can play with minimal risk to re-injury.

Make it idjit proof and someone will make a better idjit.

It will be interesting to see how teams view him if he sits out all season. Teams will be cautious prior to declaring because they will not have doctors get a chance to look at him. If returns do not come back as strong as expected because of hesitation we could see him come back.

they haven't seen our depth chart yet!

He can make himself a top 20 pick if he comes back and has

a full year with Watson. Teams aren't going to use a pick that has lots of guaranteed money on him given his neck. Too risky.

He has played only two years. He has only 80 catches for 1,400 yards over his college career. First year he was a backup and had 20 catches for 316 years. Last year, he caught 57 passes for 1,030 yards with Watson basically playing half of the games. Stoudt just did not have the ability to allow Williams to shine. He just turned 21 two days ago.

I don't know his family's financial situation, but there is an excellent chance he comes back for another year, sets the world on fire, and becomes a first rounder and a top 20, possibly a top 10 pick with a full season catching passes from Watson behind an outstanding offensive line.

well, maybe..but he has only started one year and

i cannot imagine he'd get first round money on essentially one year's numbers..pulling hard for full recovery and a helluva senior year w/ #4 throwing to him.

WR's went 20th and 40th overall in the 2015 NFL Draft. If a healthy Williams would go 20th and a coming off injury Williams would go 40th. Based on those contracts, that would be 3.7 million that Williams would be missing.

No where in what Jeff Scott says does he say Mike won't come back this year.

That wasn't the question.

Oct 6, 2015, 3:28 PM

The debate was over whether Williams "should" come back. I don't see much to debate myself. He should most definitely come back.

Don't put that out into the universe.

I predict that they will medical redshirt him

Oct 6, 2015, 3:59 PM

giving him 2 more years of eligibility.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's academic at this point.

Oct 6, 2015, 4:09 PM

One more year maybe, there's no way he's staying for two.
