Irish Travelers gonna travel:

Nov 27, 2014, 10:47 AM

EDGEFIELD – A Murphy Village man arrested on Sunday after leading Sheriff's Deputies on a foot chase and resisting arrest has seen more charges added to the list against him. 20-year-old Eddie Shawn Sherlock's luck ran out again on Tuesday when fingerprints recovered at the October 8 burglary at the Sweetwater Baptist Church came back as his, adding yet another burglary charge he is facing. A second suspect in the burglary has not been identified at this time, Sheriff's Chief Investigator Randy Doran said Tuesday.

"We got the results back on fingerprint evidence from the Sweetwater Church burglary and they came back to Sherlock," Doran said, adding that he was a suspect early on in the investigation. The new charges include burglary in the second degree violent and grand larceny. The "violent" upgrade on the burglary charge came from Sherlock's fingerprints being on a knife that was used during the burglary. The grand larceny charge comes from the value of the stolen items, some of which were recovered in a wooded area near Sherlock's home, totaled at least $5,000.

Sherlock was still being held at the Edgefield County Detention Center from his arrest on Sunday when the results from the fingerprint evidence came back late Monday or early Tuesday morning. Once the evidence was confirmed, warrants were served on Sherlock on Tuesday.

Sherlock was already out on bond from a burglary in the second degree to a Woodlawn Road business in late October when he was arrested on Sunday.

In addition, Sherlock was arrested on May 3, 2014 for yet another burglary and plead guilty on September 2, 2014, and was sentenced to 2 years in prison, suspended on service of two years probation. Within a month he was back to burglarizing a business and a church.

He is currently being held on a total of $60,000 in bonds from the most recent charges.

“Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.”
