Interference call= BS coot.

Jun 3, 2012, 12:20 PM

After reviewing the "interference call" multiple times last night, I sent the video to a retired NCAA umpire. He reviewed the play for nearly an hour and came to this conclusion.

And I quote:
" The runner sliding into second base has the right to extend his arms regardless of the throw. The second baseman has a clear throwing opportunity (which he did so)to clear a double play."

"Upon reviewing this video, I find that the interference call was invalid and that Clemson did indeed score regardless of the double play."

Just and FYI this retired NCAA umpire informed me not to mention his name.

CLEMSON WINS 5-4 Yesterday.

ESPN just showed the play again and Kyle Peterson said it was the correct call. So did the ump that's, you know...not retired.

Ah. It's all a conspiracy now.

So, basically, one ump sees it one way and another ump

If the runner can't extend his arms, and basically must keep

his arms and hands at his sides when sliding, it's a bad, absurd rule. If the ruling was, in the judgement of the umpire, that the runner (in this case) intentionally interfered, then I disagree and say that it is HIGHLY controversial at best. There are thousands of similar plays with no call whatsoever where the runner very obviously tries to not only interfere, but take out the fielder.
