That was a bit odd.
It's going to be interesting to see where the rebounding and defense come from with this team. Brownell said he had a young team, but 7 of his players are upperclassmen.

Young from the standpoint of 7 players who have never played significant minutes at Clemson but will be counted on to contribute.

because no other program in the country is even remotely interested in hiring him; certainly not for the money Clemson is paying him.

Let's see here...Clemson has a football program in the hunt for the college play-off. Duke doesn't. Duke has a championship caliber b'ball team...it's October...and the aforementioned football team might...MIGHT, make it to Shreveport or Nashville.
If you're Duke, what are you going to write about? If you're Clemson, are you writing about basketball in mid-October?

Since when are you only allowed to be interested/invested in one sport?
I go to every home football game, and am invested in that as most any Clemson fan. I also go to every home basketball game and am just as excited for the season to start as I was in August for football.

I think the Tigers will have a solid mid-range game with the folks returning, and I think they'll be OK in the backcourt.....however, the front court looks like it'll likely be a problem area and rebounds and putbacks will not come easy against strong teams. Hope I'm wrong and all the pieces fall together....geezus knows the Tigers really need a breakout year

The writer is completely wrong about Brownell's buyout...

Under the terms of Brownell’s former contract, the initial buyout was a whopping $5 million. The university would owe him $3.5 million if he were fired at the end of this season and $3.0 million if he were terminated at the end of the ‘18-’19 season or ‘19-’20 season.
The new contract was amended to significantly shrink those buyout figures. Now, if Brownell were to be terminated at the end of the upcoming season, the buyout would be just $1.7 million and would shrink to $850,000 if he were terminated prior to April 30, 2019 and $425,000 if terminated prior to April 30, 2020.

Hmmm Clemson basketball. Let's see what will happen this season.
We'll win a few in December but lose to someone we have no business to losing too.
We'll win a few conference games in January then go on a losing stretch.
Then will go on a winning streak, perhaps beat a top 25 team, and some obscure sport site will suggest Clemson is on the bubble.
Fans will get excited predicting wins. The boards will over analyze RPI.
We'll win far too few and everyone will realize we never had a shot of making the tourney.
We'll be a 3 seed in the NIT and exit early.
Different year. Same ole Clemson Basketball.

I could care less what anyone else says about our BBall program. We suck. We know we suck. I sure do not need to hear it from everyone else than CLEMSON fans. Let's just suck until the end of time at BBall, or just shut the program down. Either way, there is no need to worry about it cuz CLEMSON Admin does not care all that much for BBall. I won't even elaborate about the obvious racist part of our BBall program cuz that will cause a chitstorm on the tnet.

You ought to contact the AD and let him know your secret to recruiting better players given you think Clemson is entitled to the best recruits.

actually yes, the past 3 years they have done a preseason write up on us and always have great things to say about Coach BB. Believe it or not he is well respected among the head coaches around the league.

Interesting comment about Wade. I wouldn't have thought LSU was that much better of a basketball job. I think of LSU as a football school, similar to Clemson.
