Interesting. University of Texas getting a new basketball

arena.

$338 million for a 10,000 seat arena? Must be one swanky, yet smallish arena. I thought everything was bigger and better in Texas.

Also interesting they are downsizing from Frank Erwin Center capacity of 16,734 to a new 10,000 seat arena.

Those are misleading numbers

While the seat count is smaller, they had to adjust the size of the seats for the ample a55es that are growing in Texas.

with them under the age of 10, the place would be louder and more comfy.

Gives you an idea of how little we spent on our new facilities.

We spent $65 million, yet based on many posts here we now have primo facilities.

FSU got by cheap unless there has been more done than this

Prior to the summer of 2014, much of the existing infrastructure and equipment in use had been there since the arena opened in 1981. This included some equipment that was so outdated that it couldn't be replaced. Further deferred maintenance occurred while the arena was owned by Leon County and the City of Tallahassee.

FSU gave the arena a major renovation during the summer of 2014. The arena received new seats, Jumbotrons including new LED ribbon boards, and a new floor, all at the cost of $10 million. Before then, the only renovation occurred in 1998, when the facility's roof was replace

Well, if you read the article, the University of Texas is

not paying anything for it. A private company is paying for it in exchange for revenues from operating it.

It doesn't change the fact that our $65 million wasn't

You seemed ok with our facilities just eight months ago.

“Our administration took a few years to get on board, but they finally did with the new facilities and now with additional budget allocated for assistant coaches and support staff.”

Has the landscape of college basketball facilities really changed that much since July for you to now believe we have inadequate facilities? Or have you moved the ball so you can come up with new excuses for an inadequate coach?

^^^^^^ I would like to know this as well

Brad earned no incentives for 2018/2019. Defend that Brownellies.

Our facilities were much needed and are a huge improvement

compared to what they were. It does give me hope that the current administration cares more about basketball that previous ones. However, the fact remains that the original plan was for an entirely new arena, and at some point the budget was cut and it turned into a renovation.

Don't get me wrong, the current facilities are certainly not hindering us. But it's troubling to read comments on here acting like we have the best, most expensive facilities in college basketball. We don't. And my belief is that ours better be outstanding to stand out to recruits, since many of our peers have good facilities too but better basketball traditions.
