In regards to Jesus being "white" what are you guys....

Some of you are acting like it's crazy to say he was white. To most, "white" does not just mean European. This is how the federal government defines race for classification purposes:
White: A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa.
The choices are:
White
Black/African American
Asian
Pacific Islander
American Indian
Her saying Jesus was "white" is not crazy or inaccurate, at least in the context of how races are generally broken up for discussion and classification.

The thing is that "white" is a silly classification based on skin color, so it's almost impossible to say who's white and who isn't. The Census, however, would classify middle easterners as "white." I don't know why them being a different ethnicity has anything to do with it.

And it had nothing to do with "looks like me," and everything to do with telling people to get over what race people are and to admire them for whatever they did or whatever the tradition is. I think the only reason she brought Jesus into it is that they were talking about Santa, and Santa is associated with Christmas... and, ya know, so is Jesus.

which was that it shouldn't matter what race a person is for you to admire them. The original essay she was responding to was talking about how awful it is that Santa is white, and how they wish there could be another Christmas character who wasn't white so nobody would feel bad about it. Kelly could've said that Jesus and Santa were purple to make her point, but since she was talking about Santa, she went off on the fact that Santa was white and (maybe) so was Jesus.
What's even sillier about it all is how these supposedly racially sensitive people are the ones really getting into exclusive racial classifications.

Though, I think it's a dumb way to define white. Anglo Saxon or Caucasian make more sense for the FoxNews lady. Semitic races and Germanic races are pretty different geographically and historically. Sorta odd to throw them into the same race classification.

so I never envisioned him any other color, but c'mon walking around all day in the sun in the Middle East, with no sunscreen, he was prolly darker than Bryant Gumbel, or Julian Bond, or Roy Williams.
