Man...

Mar 11, 2019, 10:29 AM

I got a phone call this morning that a good friend of mine died yesterday. He was only 51. Had a heart attack. He had gotten kind of fat over the years, but the ironic thing is, he had changed all that in the past 2 years. He quit smoking, changed his diet, lost a lot of weight, and picked up bike riding. He was riding about 30 miles a week from what I understand. Yesterday, he had a heart attack right after a bike ride.

That's the second friend of mind that had a heart attack and died after a bike ride.

all you guys and girls over 45 with a history like friend of Micallen should get a HeartSaver CT scan. The scan is non-invasive and will check your coronaries for blockage which can lead to myocardial infarction. A friend of mine started living healthy at 49 (good diet and exercise) then died at 53 from a heart attack. What you don't know can kill you.

Didn't know such a thing existed.

I might have to check into that. I've always wondered why you had to wait til you had a heart attack to find out how much blockage you have in various arteries, etc.

I feel like I am going to have a heart attack from worrying about cancer so much.

Bike riding can be very dangerous it seems.***

Will also give you prostate cancer

Mar 11, 2019, 11:41 AM

I think its that little seat that gets crammed up the taint. I knew two dudes who had prostate cancer and both rode bikes. Coincidence? Maybe. But they both were pretty young.

I too had my heart attack at 51.

Was thinking about adding cycling in addition to walking, but obviously will now scrap that plan.
