Aggies site reporting Venables and Texas A&M have had...

Nov 28, 2014, 10:54 PM

Texas A&M 247 site reporting Venables and Texas A&M have been in ontact with one another and that Venables is interested in locating back near the Texas area and in coaching in the SEC. This would be devastating if we lost him and Morris at the same time.

Doubt Coach V would make that move but you can't be sure. IF he left, wonder if Dabo would consider Muschamp for the job? Have no idea if he's looking for a low level HC job or would take a DC job at a top 25 program.

I really do not think Clemson has the money to fire Dabo at this point. That is a hefty sum!

To better jobs eventually. Chad will go but Venables isn't going to move to College Station for a lateral move. There'd be no reason to leave Oklahoma if that was the case, especially with how successful he's been the last couple years.

Re: We hired these guys knowing they would be moving...

Nov 28, 2014, 11:15 PM

You think College station is a lateral move?
SEC West vs the ACC?
C'mon, CU is on a roll, but A&M is a monster in waiting.
Sumlin will depart for the NFL and that leaves an open HC position....

Morris told his daughter he wouldn't move till she graduated High School. She should this June unless she graduates in January.

Venables has a son that plays LB at Daniels not moving may in play. He didn't say anything in public like Morris.

Especially at over the $900k a year he makes at Clemson...

People acting like Dabo won't throw a little extra money at him to stay...

We are willing to PAY coordinators. We won't have a problem finding interested parties.

that's always the risk, but

Nov 28, 2014, 11:11 PM

it's going to happen sooner or later. He's too good of a coach to be here forever. Better problem to have than no one wanting your coaches. I'll take this problem any day.

this is a fine problem to have but not if our coordinators are possibly looking to take the same job they have here somewhere else.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

i doubt he would make a lateral move but

Nov 28, 2014, 11:17 PM

You can't fault someone if they want to get back closer to home.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dabo picked out two of the best with BV and CM.

Dabo is the foundation of this program and IPTAY is the undisturbed soil that supports it.

As this article states, his name will come up but he is an unlikely choice.

He will be well compensated well here and likes it here. He probably only leaves for a HC job.

Muschamp is too much of a hot head to be considered by Dabo, imo.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm not seeing the hot head aspect.

Nov 28, 2014, 11:40 PM

What I saw from his resignation speech at Florida showed personal responsibility, humility and respect to his employer that just showed him the door.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dont blast me but Randy Shannon

Nov 29, 2014, 9:22 AM

He wasn't a good head coach but was one heck of a DC @ Miami. Has recruiting ties in Florida also. Just have to make sure he isn't doing anything illegal recruiting wise.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

VERY LITTLE concern....

Nov 29, 2014, 9:26 AM

BV leaves to go to A & M for their DC coordinator job

Lateral job

Huge buy out

Huge salary required

Lots of pretty qualified candidates with more SEC ties

If he happens to go:

Muschamp and Randy Shannon, both who are OUTSTANDING recruiters would top this list

It's more realistic we are replacing Mike Reed, who Morris may take with as his DC to SMU

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: VERY LITTLE concern....

Nov 29, 2014, 9:31 AM

Shhh... Don't give Morris any ideas.
