Because he does watch west coast teams and had good insight on them, but I never saw what he saw in Utah. Granted I only watched them 3 times but every time I watched them they reminded me of UVa. Fundamentally good, but only a handful of outstanding players. I watched them struggle for a half against a mediocre Colorado team and just didn’t see why everyone was assuming they’d roll Oregon. But he definitely hitched his Wagon to Utah, touting them as a better team than LSU.

Utah is much better than what they showed the last two games. They collectively choked when the spotlight blinded them.

This sometimes happens to teams not accustomed to top level success. They fought back well and showed some heart. Problem was Oregon's O-line is probably the best in the country and Cristobal challenged them in the 2nd half to close Utah out. They did, with gusto.
