I'm looking to buy a new hybrid bike

Sep 2, 2020, 2:16 PM

I have a Cannondale road bike that I've had for about 15 years. I ride more city/bridge than long rides on the road these days (I'm 62 years old). I'm ready to move on from a traditional road bike. I bought a fixed gear bike a few years ago, its simple but not great climbing the Ravenel. I test rode a Specialized Sirrus 1.0 recently and liked it. It was light and I sat more upright than I'm used to but it was a nice change and it had gears. <img border=">. I also liked the 32mm tires, better for potholes than 23mm. The Specialized costs $500. It's not fancy (no disk brakes) but I don't need fancy. Any suggestions?

My wife and I both have (coincidentally) Trek FX bikes. I have had mine 7 or 8 years and we just researched everything a few months ago and she ended up with her Trek. We are not brand conscious on bikes, other than buying very good quality. As you may know, there is a shortage of bikes. She waited about 2 weeks for hers to come in.
I am 71 and she is 60.
Go Tigers.

Class of ‘71. Went through “rat season” and glad I did.

I don’t buy Asian for bigger purchases so Trek is out. I buy Raleigh. Great quality and reasonable pricing.

I heard the coots are investing in these for their football team. Could be worth a look?

Something about me wanting to supply ALL the power myself instead of going to an E-bike. I know on an E-bike you can go much further on the same about of energy but I'm not there yet.
