Does anyone know why Rendrick Taylor would be red-shirted this year?

Jamie Harper out with a sprained ankle

Another one of our best players goes down. Every practice we lose a star player.

Jamie Harper is hardly a star player...

not saying he won't be, or that he hasn't had an impressive August camp, but he has never even laced it up for a game at Clemson and has two NFL'ers ahead of him... something tells me we'll be okay.

"Excuse me? I don't go down to your work and tell you how to flip the burger!"

With Davis going pro next year, and Spiller likely as well,

the coaches want a veteran RB back next year to work with Harper and Ellington. He wouldn't get many, if any touches, this year, so it makes sense for him to come back next year instead.

he will have his first career carry as RB next season so that's a veteran? I know he is in terms of game experience but certainly not at RB. That one has puzzled me.

Right. Veteran player.***

It's also to give him another year to make the transition

from WR to RB.

I see the logic behind it, I just worry that we might need a

big body for short yardage situations. Although I have noticed JD is looking larger than he has in previous seasons...

That's Jamie Harper***

I'm guessing J.Harper's gonna redshirt as well...

Aug 17, 2008, 6:30 PM [ in reply to Re: Clemson Holds Second Scrimmage ]

...and next season, Taylor will be throwing down blocks for him as he heads for the endzone.

With Taylor's massive size and speed, he should've been racking up blocks or tackles by the boatload. I don't know why he's been moved around to receiver and runningback... that's just not the kind of position I would've imagined. Is it only because that's what he wanted.

Harper will not red shirt, will be in for short yardage, just my thinking!
