Why would he hold out for the Alabama A&M job?

Jan 17, 2014, 4:26 PM

Oh you mean the Texas A&M job. That position will not open up for at least 4 years and Chad will have left CU by then.

He's going to coach Watson for 2-3 more years and put up

Jan 17, 2014, 4:31 PM

wins and numbers. I think the Aggies job will be open in 2 years.

'I Cannot Sanction Your Buffoonery'

Why do you think that?

Jan 17, 2014, 5:13 PM

Sumlin just signed a huge extension and is in the process of building a huge house. Plus he has the #2 recruiting class in the nation with the #1 QB locked up. Sumlin is at A&M for the long haul unless Jerry makes him an offer he can't refuse.

Unfortunately, I think the GT Job is on Morris' Radar

Jan 17, 2014, 4:39 PM

He can win there immediately and has access to great talent

Sumlin

Jan 17, 2014, 4:45 PM

Has at least 3-4 years of good will built up. I think he should be on UF, GA TECH, and VA TECH's radar

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

LOL at OP. Vandy didn't want him but A&M will!***

Funny, I've heard all day he was #2.

Jan 17, 2014, 4:58 PM

So doesn't that mean he was wanted?

Clemson

Vandy was in a position to be unusually selective this year. Not many teams changed coaches this year...especially compared to last season. Very, VERY light year, in terms of head-coaching changes in college football.

Precisely because so many coaches got stays of execution this year, though, next year is going to be bloody. Just off the top of my head...GT, UF, Arkansas, Mississippi State, TCU, UVA, VT, UNC, NC State, Pitt, Syracuse, Nebraska, Michigan, heck, even UGA, all have coaches with varying degrees of flame under their seats...and that's before the NFL does its yearly raid of top-level college coaches.

Next offseason is going to be a mess.

Be a seller's market, next January. This year was exactly the opposite.

Re: He wont make a lateral move for another OC job

Jan 17, 2014, 4:53 PM

I would'nt either. I think he leaves for a HC gig or nothing.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Folks should stop fooling themselves.

Jan 17, 2014, 5:01 PM

Morris is waiting for enough experience to take a HC job. He's not ready and yes, I'll keep saying that until he's ready. When he's ready I'll let everyone know. sml

Jan 17, 2014, 5:11 PM

Morris was not selected and look at sumlin's exp, night and day to Morris

Why would Louisville vandy etc got with more exp but fla and Texas a m go after him?

He is at Clemson until SMU, arky st or a MAC school opens up

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm glad Morris said no to vandy; he's too good for them.

Jan 17, 2014, 5:24 PM

Before anyone says, "He wasn't offered the job." I'm suire he would have gotten it if he had wanted it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

maybe

Jan 17, 2014, 5:32 PM

what if he goes to uscJR when slurrier leaves?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Sumlin is the most overrated coach in the country

Jan 17, 2014, 5:41 PM

I could see that job being open after a 5-7 or 6-6 year next year.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Please explain

Jan 17, 2014, 5:55 PM

Sumlin:

O.C. at Oklahoma: Oklahoma averages 44 points a game.

H.C. at Houston: Final season Houston goes 12-1 averages well over 44 points a game

H.C. at A&M: A&M averages over 40 points a game and his Q.B. wins the Heisman.

So, other than the fact that he is a great recruiter, his teams put up crazy amounts of points, and he wins, you're right, he is over rated.

Re: Please explain

Jan 17, 2014, 7:54 PM

And if he could only play offense he would be awesome. They weren't exactly hot stuff this year with Manziel. They will get run over next year because Sumlin had made no effort, nor has he ever, to address his defensive deficiencies,
