I'm extremely happy, but a bit surprised. The landscape is

changing ever so gradually in the college football universe when a group of voters from around the nation is faced with the opportunity to make Alabama #1 ... and they pass on the chance.
GO TIGERS! POUND the DEACS!!

Clemson's biggest wins...#4 and #14
Bama's biggest wins...#15 and #25
Clemson's biggest loss...nobody.
Bama's biggest loss....#22 (they're trying to get them back in there so it doesn't look as bad...but likely too little too late).
Enough said.

Nice analysis. Those were pretty clear deciding factors for the committee.

Additionally, Clemson is in the top ten in efficiency

both offensively and defensively.
Alabama's offense is not top ten.

I'm convinced Clemson is a lock at #1

as long as we keep winning and Notre Dame doesn't lay an egg at BC. North Carolina doing well is just boosting our SOS and a win in the ACCCG will certainly lock it down.

um, not necessarily...chance that by the end of it, Iowa could jump ND. Depends on ND vs Stanford (#11) (with no conference championship to play), and Iowa winning out and how they do vs Mich St/Mich (#9/#12) in their conference championship. They could still easily end up on the outside against an undefeated Iowa.

or, sorry, them vs OH/State/Mich/Mich State in the Big 10 Championship. Keep in mind, Oh State still has to play both Mich State and Michigan.

Absolutely correct. The Tigera are locked at 1 as long as they and notre dame keep winning. Nobody else has beat a current ranked playoff team

The committee still believes that with one loss Alabama doesn't deserve to be ranked at number one.

I just don't see a way that they rank a one loss team ahead of us....we win out, we stay at #1. Really prefer not to see the same team twice though.

The committee appreciates style points . .

which Clemson never gets much of anyway. Swinney isn't into that. It hurts us some in polls. I would be surprised if we stay 1st, even winning out, if Alabama wins out as well. Still, not bad though. I would rather play Alabama for the title game.

I agree that if we don't play and win against Bama, no one will trust that we are the #1 team in the country. Everybody believes that Bama had a hiccup in their loss to Ole Miss....
