I'm curious to know who called

Dec 6, 2015, 3:55 PM

for Andy Teasdall to run for it on 4th & 15 with the fake punt or did he miss a signal & took off on his own?

He did it on his own.

He was supposed to do a rugby style kick rolling to the right and I suppose he didn't think he could get it off.

On Rugby style kicks the punters are given

Some leeway on going for it if they think they can get it. They are taught to key on defenders that just turn and run. However it was 4th and 12...in that situation you always punt. If he was good enough to cover that yardage he would be our starting TB.

My thoughts are is that he had a lapse and didn't realize it was 4th and 12. I am thinking he thought had distance wrong.

He rolled to his left but he kicks with his right foot***

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Based on the way the coaches chewed-his-a$$-out afterwards

I'm guessing it was a unilateral decision.

Cheeseball (not a dig it's what we call him) did. To be fair to him he had a wide open left side of the field. He just doesn't run a 4.5 40 time otherwise it would have worked.

He saw a lane on the left side wide enought to drive a truck

through. Looked to me like he would have probably made it if his blockers on that side knew he was running. After a couple of seconds, it appeared the blockers released to head up field to defend a return, allowing the lane to completely disintegrate before Teasdall's eyes.
