Listened to WCCP on the way to work this morning

Jan 4, 2016, 11:57 AM

How do you guys handle that station? In my 25 minute commute, I probably heard 24 minutes of very poorly recorded ads. Then when they finally came back from a commercial break it was another 30-45 seconds of promoting a foundation repair company.

On a given morning, I probably hear more about Clemson on 107.5 in Columbia than I did on WCCP (unless you count Dabo and Venables promoting a home security company)

I stopped listening when mickey said he was the world's

Geville Tiger on Clemson football , "Dabo's only problem is he has to deal with turd fans questioning every move he makes.”

Re: I was thinking the same thing this morning

Jan 4, 2016, 12:09 PM

very little content . Hope later today is better with no one talking nfl or b ball either

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm buying any home defense Venables recommends!

Jan 4, 2016, 12:06 PM

Unfortunately, due to Uncle Sam, I'm not in the local area currently. Who does he recommend? Is it a nationwide or a local? Does it come with its own Ben Boulware? I would treat him well, but I'm pretty sure robbers would think twice if the mustached monster came running at them. Go Tigers!

Well said

Jan 4, 2016, 12:07 PM

It's about timing the breaks. The amount of commercials though is frustrating. In an hour's time, there is maybe 15 minutes of quality content.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

hahaha! You said "quality" content.... hahaha!***

adding up the numbers of the last 2 games and saying: we beat Oklahoma 77 to 27.Seriously, he really did, killing a quarter of minute air time.

Really? Listen to any other sports morning show and tell

Jan 4, 2016, 12:57 PM

me you hear that many ads.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Think its maybe because they're local

and not funded by ESPN, CBS, FOX?

In my line of work, you have to provide a decent product to make a living.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Maybe so, but Radio is free... so...

Jan 4, 2016, 1:11 PM

Ad money pays the bills.

Jan 4, 2016, 1:16 PM

The ads are played to fill in the season recap and recruiting success

"I'm a donut nut,I'm a donut nut,I'm a nut for Krispy Kreme"

Jan 4, 2016, 1:09 PM

I agree with you. the ads are horrifically long on WCCP.

This is my routine in a typical hour (let's go randomly 1-2pm):

XMRadio: 1:00-1:08 (WCCP ads)
WCCP: 1:09-1:20
XMRadio: 1:21-1:29 (WCCP ads)
WCCP: 1:30-1:40
XMRadio: 1:41-1:49 (WCCP ads)
WCCP: 1:50-1:59

Rule of thumb: You can listen to 2 full 4-minute songs during a WCCP ad break and come back to miss nothing.

Ahhhh...ahh...dis is Delbin from fountain inn

Jan 4, 2016, 1:19 PM

They always make time for Delbin.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He has good stuff to say

Jan 4, 2016, 1:42 PM

if you can understand any of it. I have no clue how Mickey understands him

Re: Ahhhh...ahh...dis is Delbin from fountain inn

Jan 4, 2016, 2:11 PM [ in reply to Ahhhh...ahh...dis is Delbin from fountain inn ]

Delvin has to be unemployed or retired. He calls into EVERY show....EVERY day. I hear more of him than I do the hosts. I think they just try and piece together what he says and go with it. There is no way they understand everything.

I love hearing folks in the Upstate complain about WCCP

Jan 4, 2016, 2:01 PM

in Chucktown, there's ONE radio show---and its on from 3-6 in the afternoon. The mod is a former gamecock cheerleader, longtime president of the local gamecock club (although a good guy who does a ton for local charities) and as such the show is largely gamecock-centric. For example: the last week of the CFP voting when Clemson was named number 1 inthe country in the final voting for the play-offs was also the week when Muscoot was hired as HC at the #2 public university in the state. 75-80% of the programming and call centered around the developing new staff at usuck and how the future was suddenly rosy for the chickens. There were no phone interviews with college football pundits from around the country about the Tigers upcoming game with Okla....no phone interviews with ANYONE from the Tiger coaching staff....the local Clemson fans have pretty much stopped calling the show for very obvious reasons

So, you guys will just have to suffer with the Clemson flagship radio station while the rest of us can get it over the computer or through subscription service and wish we could have access to Tiger-centric broadcasting----whether you agree with the mods or not
