Jan 8, 2015, 3:36 PM

I am going to be selling my Super Awesome badass (if anyone is looking) F-150 Platinum very soon and was thinking of seeing what they would offer.

Had any experince with them...did they lowball the hell out of you?

I've gotten them to appraise 2. They lowballed a fullsize truck and blamed it on demand. They gave me a great number on a highlander. Their system is tied to their sales trends, I think so it's pretty good I thought. They seemed thorough to.

Almost let them have the highlander, but had someone willing to pay what they appraised.

If she's a hollerer, she'll be a screamer.
If she's a screamer, she'll get you arrested.

Not sold to, but bought from CarMax...

Jan 8, 2015, 3:41 PM

Take a look at Platinums that they have for sale. You'll see a number of vehicles with the same price that have different mileage. If yours is similar to the vehicles with high mileage, you will make out okay. If your vehicle is similar to the low mileage vehicles, you will likely get low-balled. YMMV.

That's all the tech I have...

Good luck.

Curious...Buying another Ford?

Yes, they will lowball you...

Jan 8, 2015, 3:51 PM

I've had several cars quoted by them just so we could get an idea of the value...they probably won't give you a good deal on your truck

Go to local dealer.

Jan 8, 2015, 4:13 PM

I got 2 grand more on a Yukon I sold to a toyota dealer than what Carmax would give me.

It was $500 more than what I was asking for it selling it on my own.

Most people don't know that dealers will buy cars. Take it

Jan 8, 2015, 4:16 PM

Jan 8, 2015, 4:51 PM

get trading it in and I wasn't in a hurry to sell it. So basically I got private party retail for it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No...but that is what I will most likely do

Jan 8, 2015, 4:52 PM [ in reply to Have you tried to sell it yourself yet? Normally you'll.... ]

I don't need to sell it quick so that makes the most sense. Just heard about the carmax deal and figured i'd see what the folks thought about it.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They are going to offer you trade-in value most of the time.

Jan 8, 2015, 4:55 PM

If it's something they really want or is a good seller you may get a little more.

Just go to kbb.com and check out trade-in v private party retail v dealer retail to get an idea of what you should be asking/getting for it.

Most of the time trucks are not hard to sell and usually you get what you want for it if it's reasonable. Like I said, I got exactly what I asked for mine and the guy didn't ask me to drop the price at all.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I took one there but didn't sell it.

Jan 8, 2015, 5:06 PM

They offered about what kbb.com said was the trade-in value. If you need money quick then you may choose to do that. #thenyoumustbepoor
