If you needed less...

Raising your own pigs/hunting hogs is one thing, but industrial harvested ham/bacon/ect involves things that most people wouldn't actively support. Ignoring it keeps it going.
Hunting, even with a spear or bow, is WAY more humane than going to Wendys.

You and nearly everyone else. Especially those who shy away from looking at what goes on.
I ate some this month. It's hard not to. But I try to be careful where I get it from.

That video is hard to watch. It does make you want to be mindful. What are the chances of a local butcher block that prides itself on the grass-fed, organic angle NOT being a part of a system like this? I'm curious because most of the bacon I eat is from artisan type shops, gourmets and delis and such in town --- I'm not a mass produced, fast food guy myself.

I'm no expert on the matter, but I know that avoiding fast food meat as much as possible and asking where the meat comes from at 'artisan' restaurants and butchers will lessen the likelihood of contributing to the sick sh*t that is going on.
There is always a ton of meat available from hunters depending on where you live.
I'm no Vegan, because I don't think that's natural. I'm not even a vegetarian, but I realize people eat way too much meat on average. When you factor in the insane levels of cruelty and the disease-causing stuff they put in industrial harvested meat, it has convinced me to think about what I am eating.

Me, my dad and brother almost got stampeded by a pack of 6 wild hogs on our farm one afternoon about 5 years ago. Bird shot was enough to disorient them just enough so we didn't get killt. They aint nothing to play with, and I'd suggest hogging from the back of a truck.

Exactly. Imagine a country where the biggest consumer brands centered on exploiting poor people & economies of scale and NOT providing the best product or service.

Unfortunately for people who want options, the proportion of poor/lower middle class people in our country means that the demand for places like McDonald's & WalMart will always keep those guys at the top.

True story

I was yanking your chain a little but also being somewhat serious. I think the best economy is one that has fewer restrictions on it so it can let supply and demand work.
You have good points and this could be a great conversation about a ton of things over a couple of cigars and whiskey.

I didn't force you to watch the video, but I think it's good for people (including myself) to be reminded what's going on. It's not like I'm lying or anything.
There is some sick stuff going on that I'm sure 90% of people don't support, and it would change if people demanded it. It's not like I'm a hippie Vegan or anything.

I would, but I can't do a garlic aioli like Ted's and I can't do a citrus mayo like Five Loaves. Plus, dat croissant and sharp chedda from Five Loaves and dat Ciabatta from Ted's.
Don't worry, when I go over to James Island I have to eat like the rest of folk.
