If you look at the updated renderings...

It looks like only one practice court. I thought they were going to have two. Does anyone know if this will mess up practice scheduling between men and ladies basketball? Thought this was a concern previously.

practice court. The athletic department is supposedly reviewing these plans with the possibility of making it two full length practice courts instead. I feel that this would make a lot more sense, for probably not a lot more money (in light of the total project cost).
It would be extremely short-sighted to skimp on the new practice facility, since that is exactly what we did last time and it hurt us a lot.

Lipstick on a pig. New LJ looks an awful lot like old LJ.
We should have torn everything down and done it right, instead of piecing it together and trying to make it work with the existing building.

I somewhat agree.
The new Football building hurt the LJ plans IMO.

In his defense the animation is pretty atrocious. It looks like they took a PS2 game and placed those players on the court at the end.

The inside looks the same as it did. Looks like they are spending the money on the exterior. Hope it's more impressive when done.

The only similarity will be that it will continue to be a big building with seats.
It will be a wonderful place to watch a basketball game.
However, the real improvements will be in areas fans won't see very often ... practice facilities, coaches offices, meeting rooms, weight rooms, locker rooms ... the kinds of things that matter to recruits, players and coaches.
Clemson cheaped out on Littlejohn in 1968 when it was first conceived and constructed. Back then they included practically nothing of importance to the recruitment of blue chip players or the attraction of a big time basketball coach.
I don't personally believe they've cheaped out on it this time. It's going to be a first-rate facility that we can all be proud of.

thought we had "arrived" with our shiney, new arena.
The constant gripe, however, was about the rusting effect, which most of us thought was ill-conceived. However, given the time, we were proud of LJ.

thought the original Littlejohn Coliseum was magnificent compared to Fike!
And honestly, it was always a great place to watch a basketball game. Especially after they fixed the "site lines" behind the baskets.
But, a look behind the scenes revealed a woefully inferior facility when it came to player, coach, and recruiting amenities.

THIS.

So many of our fans seem to focus on the fan experience. They say things like "Littlejohn is a nice place to see a game and didn't need fixing." When the need you prove facilities comes up, they say "Cameron Indoor is not that nice." What they fail to realize is that Clemson's practice facility, weight room, meeting rooms, player lounges, and coaches offices have been very subpar for a long time. In contrast, Duke's facilities in these areas are outstanding.
We are, for the first time, giving ourselves a fighting chance with most of the rest of the teams we compete against when it comes to facilities. I'm excited!

Sadly the original concepts for this rebuild had those beams covered completely. They cut most of the major exterior renovations out of the scope

The renderings look white to me but the live pics look more like silver or gray. It may be the angle of the pics. Just curious.
