If you don’t mind, lift up a T&P for the grouching familia

Wifeofgrouching been feeling horrible all week. Results of Covid test came back Wednesday, negative. Still felt terrible on Thursday and Friday, so finally went to the urgent care last night cause we haven’t had time to set up a PCP here yet. Doc does all kinds of tests then gives her a chest x-Ray, sees something on her lung. So she gets home and translates the dr verbiage for me..anything between a lung abcess to cancer.

She went to the hospital last night, and is expecting to spend a few days there. The on-call doc told her they are bringing in the infectious disease specialist because she is a "interesting case". I don’t know exactly what that means, other than their definition probably doesn’t match mine.

So wifeof is in the hospital with no visitors allowed, and I got all the grouchychirren by myself until further notice. Feeling like Bernie Mac here with 2 beers in the fridge because the pre-snowstorm liquor store run was scheduled for today. It’s a little early to tell 2021 to kiss my ###, but I’m about to.

Hang in there. I hope everything works out for you.

I couldn't visit the first night because she was in the emergency room and they had no visitors. The regular rooms allow only one visitor. So I was able to see her the next three days. I was the only visitor, we told everyone else to stay away. She came home yesterday.

It would suck not being allowed to visit. Someone needs to take care of their needs other than medical, because it darn sure isn't the staff. Our hospital is supposedly nice, but it is a dump.

Plus I was able to fill in some of the blanks for the doctors, and it helps when 2 people are there to listen to what the doctors say so that information is not lost.

And praying she's not too interesting a case for an infectious disease doctor.

There is a chance (possibility/probability) that some day covid will evolve to be undetectable with current testing. Some mutations have already eliminated some markers that some tests look for. Some tests are designed to look for two markers, most look for three. Some variants now only have ONE marker left on certain tests (depending on the company that makes the test). The new mutated virus in England, for example, evades the "S gene" marker in covid tests due to the changes in the spike protein. However, the other markers catch it and still return a positive result. IF one of those other gene markers disappears in a further mutation, then we can have a huge problem.

Let's pray that's not the "interesting case" scenario, and that she gets better soon, most importantly.
