May 14, 2012, 11:11 AM

why have Colorado Nebraska Missouri and Texas A & M all left in the past 2 years?

Orange Googlers Unite

Save Tigernet--Boot the coots(you know who I mean).

So there would be room for Clemson, FSU, GT and Miami***

Greener pastures.

But you can bet with the contract the remaining schools have signed giving their 1st and 2nd tier TV rights to the Big 12 they won't be leaving.

not so much anymore...

May 14, 2012, 11:16 AM

and I can tell you... they are not UNC/Duke...

There is UNC/Duke bias in front offices and it is evident in things such as officiating...

That's not the case with Texas... they just think they're better.

sports network, or Tier 3 revenues. That issue has been fixed by the Big 12 in their new contract.

They're not. They just offer a lot more money, which is the only argument I've seen for moving.

Re: Only argument for leaving???

May 14, 2012, 11:23 AM

You kiddin?
9th conference game coming which screws FSU, GT, and Clemson out of major bucks?

3rd year probation(unprecented before or since)
No extra probation for UNC from the same dude who screwed us in '84.

Less money by far

More attendance in Death Valley, different, more well travelled fan bases(don't believe it? ...think BC, UVA, Mary, Duke, Wake and remember how few show up in Death Valley each home game) =======more money for us.

Wake up and smell the coffee on this!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

How do you know the Big XII

May 14, 2012, 11:51 AM

won't go to 9 conference games if CU and FSU join?

Iowa St, Kansas, Baylor, don't travel for squat

May 14, 2012, 12:04 PM [ in reply to Re: Only argument for leaving??? ]

we played Missouri and they barely brought family and friends. TCU brought a very small contingent to DV, but in fairness, they were a fun group.

Nebraska, Missouri, and Texas A & M left the Big XII....

May 14, 2012, 11:22 AM

because of the ongoing preferential treatment the former Big XII commissioner granted Texas

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Hmmm, sounds like the ACC and the NC mafia.***

divisional, losing the OU game each year cost them on several fronts.

That's the public reason...

May 14, 2012, 12:19 PM [ in reply to Nebraska, Missouri, and Texas A & M left the Big XII.... ]

....but the facts are that Nebraska and Texas A&M voted WITH Texas in conference matters far more than they voted against. It would seem that if Texas was that big of a problem that there would have been a much larger disconnect that truly existed.

The real reason is money for the most part. Nebraska, Texas A&M, and Missouri all joined conferences that will pay out more than the Big XII. Colorado had coveted the PAC10 for years, and due to the fact they don't have a built in recruiting base in-state had always recruited the West Coast heavily.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

tejas voting rights were more than the other schools, it was

May 14, 2012, 12:23 PM

one of the problems.

don't know what the votes were on key issues. the acc requires a certain number of votes depending on the issue. recently reported a 7-4 vote for additional penalties to UNC; 1 vote shy.

tejas was the major problem out there, even OU & OSU had one foot out the door until tejas made concessions late last year.

Re: If the Big XII is so good

May 14, 2012, 11:52 AM

Each day I'm leaning more and more towards leaving the ACC, it really would be a good move for football, and how awesome would it be to have Texas and Oklahoma come get that a** smacked up in The Valley.
