We were looking for an OC when we found him. If he's not all in, then take off. Can he stand a pay cut??? LOL

they offer it.
He's already the highest paid coordinator in football. NCSt job is a heck of a job. Not elite, but really really good for a guy with no HC experience.

I'd be REALLY concerned when Yow posts there.
I'd hate to see him go, but probably will happen sooner vs later.

Why jump from pan to fire?

Unless Morris sees some writing on the wall about Clemson that I don't, I can't imagine he would jump to another ACC team as his first step into the head coaching world. He'd be better off stepping into a mediocre SEC position (KY, Aub...) or staying put with the chance of getting even more attention in another season. There is no reason to thing the offense would get any worse.....

realistically do by staying here another 1-3 years.
Gus Malzahn (the teacher) won a national title and was being courted by Vanderbilt. I really think a lot can be said for HC experience for the "big jobs".

Others are going to be willing to offer him something better. He has been a very good OC for you guys, but if he can go from ACC OC to ACC (and possibly soon to be SEC/Big 12) HC, he's going to do it. I know he makes a crap-ton of money as an OC. But NC State will be able to top it.

VT has been one of the VERY few fortunate programs to have had a head coach for a quarter decade and the assistants hardly ever go anywhere (though some of the offensive staff probably needs to).
Now, the one thing I think hanging this up is just how much money Morris is making. If he were making half of what he's making, I think NC State may already have their coach. But the fact that they have to offer significantly more than his current salary (which is more than some other ACC coaches make) is probably making the Wolfies pause... especially given he has never been a college HC before.

They can offer him slightly more in salary with a lucrative incentives package. Reduces risk for them, dramatically increases the upside for him.

$1.5 million and a lot of incentives as you mentioned probably gets it done.
But does NC State want to pay that much for a guy who has never been a college HC and has really only been in the college game a few years? They might. But I can see why that might make them blink.
Of course, it's easy for us to sit here and play armchair AD. Who knows what will actualy happen. They might even be able to offer LESS than he makes at Clemson and Morris STILL might take it just for the HC title (especially again, with an incentive-laden contract).

Yeah, it's all about money in the end. But some coaches have enough ego that they look at making a name for themselves, too. Morris would have to see something I don't to think NCState was a great starting point ESPECIALLY if the team shifts to either of the conferences you mention.

Why wouldn't he want to be a HC at an ACC school?

Look at Gus Malzahn. He was a hot OC at Auburn and ended up settling on Arkansas State. He was mentioned for just about every job, but he was 2nd and 3rd place a lot. OK, he was Vandy's first choice... but NC State is a MUCH better job than Vandy. Even should NC State end up in the SEC, NC State will be a job similar to Arkansas, vs being a job like Vandy.
