Why is he suspended? Why is Geno suspended? Ohio St BOT made a statement that winning is everything today! Fallout imminent.

This is about could be expected in a situation where the university wants to look good without much consequence.

Deptula was saying today that UM said to either fire him or keep him to the BOT...that he would not accept a suspension. Guess that went out the window

They're obviously going to get a ridiculous amount of blowback, and it's well-deserved. I think they should have either said "We don't want this to be our image and we won't stand for it and we're moving on" or "This was terrible judgement by Urban but he's an incredible coach and we're going to stand by him". I'm not sure what the correct choice is, but the suspension seems pretty empty.
It stinks when off-the-field actions like this occur. Of course there are varying degrees, but human suffering which is covered up in the name of winning or saving the face of a program (this is obviously at a different level for situations like Baylor & Penn St) is despicable, and I hope coaches & administrators across the country learn from these missteps.
Almost as despicable as the acts & coverups themselves is the reaction of the fanbases. The refusal to acknowledge the actions of coaches/administrators and defending them blindly, all the way to attacking the victims is horrid. I hope to god nothing like this ever happens at Clemson but, god forbid, I hope our fanbase will remember how terrible these fanbases have looked by showing blind loyalty to a program rather than concern for victims.

Well if one of our coaches gets accused of something like Smith did I sure hope Dabo does not just fire them right away without knowing the situation and if the accusation actually has truth to it.

REDICULOUS!!!
Urban & Gene should’ve both reported immediately to COMPLIANCE OFFICIAL! End of story....
...they didn’t care.

You need to listen to the findings of the investigation and the statements at the presser then come back when you know the facts.

I have read all the stuff on it and the man did not get charged with abuse so why do you think Urban should be fired?

Right now, that’s totally inconclusive. I think Urban’s comment at the PC is telling, and you can read between the lines from the committee’s findings:
A. On the University’s overriding concern of assuring that spousal abuse is neither ignored nor condoned, the findings are: Coach Meyer has “a sincere commitment to the Respect for Women core values that he espouses and tries to instill in his players.” The Independent Counsel also concluded that Coach Meyer would not hesitate to terminate any coach if spousal abuse was established:
“We believe [Coach Meyer] as did Zach Smith, that if [Coach Meyer] ever came to learn or believe that Zach Smith had physically abused his wife, Coach Meyer would have fired Zach Smith or any other coach on the spot.”

He wasn't charged with abuse so there is that. I'm not saying he didn't or did do anything but to want a head coach fired over something that the law has not even done anything about is pathetic imo.
