4 for, 4 on fence, 1 against, 1 pushing hard for.

My take

May 20, 2012, 6:42 PM

WVU is pushing hard in favor, Texas opposing (champion of the obvious, I know). My take is that Texas is maybe hesitant for FSU/Clemson because they are making a big push for ND. If Texas knows that ND is no longer an option, I would be very surprised if they stood in the way of adding FSU and Clemson.

and I think he's mis-informed.

I think they are saying the same thing on Orangebloods

May 20, 2012, 6:50 PM

as this NBC report.

throwing that weight around. They are no Carolina.

I'm not sure where some of you are going with this...

If the Big 12 goes to 13 and 14 teams... they have a renegotiated contract that is very substantial... ummm... large.

They want 14. They are trying to get ND in at #13 or 14. Why would they focus on FSU/ND and stop with all the money left out there?

They have 12. They are pushing hard to get ND. Throwing out all kinds of incentives. Other schools are lobbying hard for 13 and 14... but ND trumps them all and takes a spot if they want.

It is more likely today than in the past... but still a longshot.

Re:Notre Dame has it made. Good publicity, good pocket

books and good recruiting potential=remember, every priest in the country recruits for them (Son, you are in danger of going to hell if you don't go to
Notre Dame/)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

no question... they love being independent...

May 20, 2012, 7:07 PM

but the new SEC/Big XII alliance pretty much aligns the 4 major conferences and is worth a lot of money.

No one is going to give ND a "special clause" to get involved in that and stay independent.

They know they have to make a decision.

The Big XII's biggest pitch is their own network... but I still think they are Big 10 bound.

it would hilarious if all these schools went to the Big XII

May 20, 2012, 8:06 PM

and then texas left for the pac-12

If all these teams went being 5 ACC teams and ND,

May 20, 2012, 8:46 PM

the BIG XII would be in good enough shape to get Arkansas back. With 16 teams, crazy TV deal, and maybe the only consistent challenge to the SEC, they would have a lot of weight to throw around. Gets Arkansas's old rivalries back. Can't believe I just wrote that like it was happening and getting strategy for the future.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The lack of even close to unanimity "for" makes me suspect

May 20, 2012, 9:37 PM

just how lucrative a B12 TV package would be with the new additions. Someone could be blowing smoke to attract other schools.
