If UAB disbands their football program today as expected

Dec 2, 2014, 12:09 PM

there will be numerous players who are now free agents. The coach at UAB is Bill Clark, who Dabo interviewed as DC when he hired Venables. Wonder if their is an OL or DL there who might be able to help us? Programs like UAB always have someone who fell through the cracks in recruiting and are good players

As of noon today their program is shut down.***

There's something in these hills.

I would assume all players would be eligible next season.

Reminds me of the 30 on 30 about SMU where the day they announced the penalty recruiters showed up. May have been a little more talent at SMU though.

When ETSU shut down we got a pretty good fullback

as I recall, think his name was Stephen Jackson. I'm sure every team in the country is or has been evaluating film. See who might have developed from when they were being recruited

This is very sad to me. I am afraid with the changing college football landscape, this won't be the last program to fail. Sad day for football.

Thing is

they didn't fail as much as they are being killed by the Alabama Board of Trustees. The same BOT that despite having secured funding from donors to pay his salary wouldn't allow UAB to hire Jimbo Fisher as HC a few years ago and refused to allow UAB to look into building a smaller on campus stadium to replace the derelict Legion Field. The ring leader of these efforts is Paul Bryant Jr, Bear Bryant's son.

Most of their commitments and recent signees....

are either unranked or two star prospects. Although they did sign nine (9) three-star players in the 2011 class including offensive lineman Uneik Crumbley

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Question would be who has developed from when they were

being recruited? If they have an OL or DL who could help, even as depth, I'd think we'd be interested
