I am no snowflake by any means, and my dad certainly was not one to spare the rod, but I would never have been punished for playing a sport bad.
That is a terrible precedence, I can see dads all over the country seeing that now and thinking it is ok to spank your child because he missed a block.

I've been known to give my kids a pop or 2 on the rear for bad behavior so no snowflake here, but I thought that was shocking. Use the belt on your kid for a bad play in sports??? And did you also get that he picked the college and note Tau didn't say he agreed with the pick.

Everybody pretty much knew Tua wanted to go to Oregon and follow Mariotta. Oregon didn't really recruit him much though, I guess because they had Herbert but the dad could have given them the brush off. Not really at all different than what happened with Ale Kaho over the summer, his dad wanted him at Bama all along too.
It's not really much of a secret that the parents of some Bama players get jobs/no-show jobs at Tuscaloosa car dealerships, some of which Saban at least partially owns.

Rafa Nadal was a natural righty but his uncle (who was his coach) forced him to play tennis lefty.
But the whipping for bad play doesn't sound good. Luckily Tua seems like a good stable kid despite that.
