that thread is a great example of mass delusion at the highest scale, so it can be rather frustrating to see otherwise normal, intelligent people all carry when it is obvious they are all just repeating what they heard on fox new.. I used to live in Greenville 'til I was 10. I don't hold any particularly strong feelings over the place. Plus, if people are just "bashing," I generally ignore.

Good for you. We all do things our own way. I like bashing partisan hacks that bash hard working Americans and their city for political reasons, especially when it is my home state, the city I lived in for 20 years. and the city I grew up in and much of my family lives there. By the way, I have defended southerners the same way.

You could though if you wanted to be a partisan hack. There are tons reasons to attack any city if one wants to be a jerk. After all, there is good and bad everywhere. Just for the fun of it, find the bad and go attack Greenville where it posts in the Mange. Just wing it bud. It should go over well.

I think you could have made better headway defending your beloved city if you countered the criticisms offered with facts and your own observations to the contrary, while recognizing the possibility that others may have had different observations based on their experiences.

I supported a government program, overseeing Stanford's Physics Department Lead on the project for 3 Years. Went 18 times to the Bay area.
Everything that you deny, regarding the decadence of the are, is the truth. The area is too free-thinking, with way too much tolerance. If N. Korea lobs one to the area, you better hope I don't have authoritative control of the counter-measure.
