Colleges will NEVER go back to an 11 game season

Jan 9, 2017, 2:59 PM

For most schools that extra game is a home game. That is an extra $4 million dollars schools get from the gate. Add on top of that concessions, apparel and other factors and schools would lose big time by dropping one game from the schedule.

8 team playoff means only 4 more teams make the playoffs while 120 have ONE LESS game than they do now.

Not if the round of 8 was in lieu of current CCG's.

Use the regular season only for conference championships and utilize CCG weekend as Round One, Power 5 champs + 3. Losers are cast into the bowl system so everyone can get the bowl practice benefits.

Much higher ratings and much more $ than conferences are getting from this arrangement now, save for the SEC which has set the standard here. With that in mind, I could see the Power 5's allowing the SEC to serve as a permanent "host" location in Atlanta and rotate the other 3 annually among the remaining 4.

Boom. 8 teams. No extra weeks. Better football games.

dropping a home game. One team's road game is another team's home game.
