Does Pollard or Anchrum move to guard? Who starts at LG and RG? I think Bockhurst have a chance. He looks good.

Are you people just that crazy? A true freshman that's probably 30 lbs overweight and hasn't been in a college weight program is going to come in and beat out two guys that have been in the program for years...and played well I might add. Carmen is going to be a STUD, but it isn't going to be next year.

Gosh you're right...a freshman would never start at tackle for Clemson

Mitch Hyatt didn't start as an under weight true freshman either did he ;) that would have been a crazy thing to try and pull off!!!

Carman's here now and will be in peak form come the fall. Neither Pollard or Anchrum has seized the spot at RT and have been wildly inconsistent and unreliable, so it's definitely in play, especially with a guy of Carman's caliber in the mix.

Bingo!

Anchrum and Pollard= very inconsistent.
would be better suited at guard, IMHO.

Sort of like how Hyatt came in and started as a true freshman at Left Tackle (the more important of the two?).

Not to mention that we struggled at Right Tackle this year, why else would we have been rotating those two guys constantly trying to get one of them to step up?

And Hyatt was underweight/lacking in strength and started at LT from day 1.

Just so you guys remember that Hyatt wouldn’t have started day 1 if it wasn’t for Isaiah Battle screwing things up lol just saying

He is one of the top recruits in the nation??? Hyatt started his freshman year. Idk if he will or not that is why I said if Carman locks down RT. If you can read.

Not sure why you think people are crazy in thinking Carmanworks his way into the starting lineup as a true freshman. Hyatt started at OT as a true freshman and Carman is rated a bit higher coming out of HS than Hyatt was. Carman @ #9 - .9945 vs Hyatt @ #23 - .9897

Well

I don’t think he could do much worse than the job that was being done in the playoffs. Hopefully he wins the starting RT job. If not then he helps to push the other guys for playing time and makes them better. Bottom line with all these guys coming in is hopefully they come in ready to work and may the best player win the job.

Yeah, I could see Hyatt-Simpson-Falci-Bockhorst-Carman. Bockhorst has a really nasty edge to him, as does Carman (both from Ohio also). The right side of the line could be a real strength.

Sounds good to me! I think Falc will be much improved at being in command having a year and another off-season under his belt as the leader.

John Simpson definitely starts at one if the guard spots. I think Carman starts at RT day one.

Need big improvement at right tackle

do most linemen know how to play all line positions or is it a transition

Re: If Carman locks down RT

Posted: Jan 10, 2018 5:33 PM

Some transition is needed. I think Carman will have a immediate impact.

Much easier to transition from tackle to guard than vise versa. If Pollard or Anchrum move to guard it should be pretty painless.

There's a transition but Caldwell has always made it a point to cross train guys. And Caldwell has been quoted saying they want to try Carman out at guard some.

There is some belief that Pollard in particular may be a better fit at guard. Also I read that Carman specifically asked Caldwell if he could have a shot at guard since there is 2 spots coming open. Sounds like Carman will do whatever is asked of him to get on the field

Doesn’t crowder have another year of eligibility

I don't think so.

I missed Bockhorst this year; how good did he look?***

If Carman performs and beats out Pollard and Anchrum (shouldn’t be all that difficult based on those guys performances this year) hopefully they make strides in offseason but if Carman wins the job at RT I think it would look like this:
LT- Hyatt
LG- Simpson
C- Falcinelli (graduated but has another year of eligibility)
RG- Anchrum/Bockhurst
RT-Carman

Hoping it plays out that way***
