Idea for 2021 7th home game

Remember back in the old days we would play GT in Atlanta ever year for financial purposes? Coach Howard would use these type games along with the upstart IPTAY to fund “little ‘ol Clemson’s” entire athletic department.

Then in 1984 Wake Forest gave us a home game I believe for similar reasons.

So, why not ask one of our 4 ACC road opponents to give us a home game for a certain percentage of the gate. Of course, with TV money in this era, P5 schools are not desperate for cash and are less willing to do this.

Our 4 conference road games in 2021 are:

Louisville
NC State
Syracuse
Pitt

Hard to see one of them agreeing to it. Definitely not Louisville or State. Maybe Pitt??? I know the dozens of fans who show up at Heinz Field might be disappointed, but it sure would be nice of them to help out their conference brother who’s in a tight spot.

A college football weekends means everything to the town of Clemson and have almost zero importance to the city of Pittsburgh’s economy.

I’m not sure the ACC would let that happen now.

ACC does not allow, outlawed after FSU used to buyout Duke

I think when FSU first joined the conference they used to buyout everyother game at Duke and play it in Jacksonville/Orlando. Other schools complained and I think they made a rule against it.
