He’s a 17 year old 5* (top ten) recruit fawned over by every team in America. What is he supposed to say: I’m going to lead my team to an 8-4 record capped off with a Belk Bowl (now Duke’s) appearance?

It's no different than if Clemson landed a consensus top 10 basketball player (like Zion)and that kid said at the signing ceremony that he intends to lead the Tigers to a FF and Natty. Everyone here would be cheering and so would I.

Oddsmakers give UNC basically a 20 - 21% chance of beating either AU or UCF so losing 2 out of 3 is a real possibility.

but UNC is not going to win a national championship in the next three years.
Clemson isn't going anywhere and is currently LIGHT YEARS ahead of the Tar Heels in terms of recruiting and coaching.
That's not a slight. It's reality so don't feel bad. The same can be said for almost every other team in the nation.
