Some just overdo the spice or it seems that they've just spiced an existing beer.
I'm a fan of spiced beers (generally subtly spiced) beers.
It's one of the things that I like about Belgians.

Some are good and you wish they produced them year round. Many are like the McRib, they know they'll sell it because it's limited time only. Once everyone realizes it sucks, it's gone.
Generally, if you can easily identify the spices then it's too much.

Other winter seasonals you need to get:
Avery - Old Jubilation Ale Great Divide - Hibernation Ale Brooklyn - Black Chocolate Stout (get 3-4 four packs and keep some for next year and beyond. They age wonderfully.)

Debating whether I want to sample it now or wait to carry it to the in-laws over Christmas. Problem is, if I bring it, the ######## will drink it, leaving less goodness for me.
I think I'll have to wait to see what the bottle shop has when I stop this weekend, then decide.

True story.
Dec 17, 2014, 2:37 PM
|
|
The week before the coot game, a Wiccan witch who is the daughter of a Haitian voodoo priest, predicted that I would drink a Bud Light Lime sometime during the week. I told her that she more than likely mistaken and that couldn't possibly happen. She then told me that if I did suffer this horrifically forbidden swill, that I would be rewarded with victory over my hated rivals.
I think we all know how that turned out.
