You add in the price of your "donation" every time you sell your tickets for big games, so it shouldn't be a big deal, right?

Should have never been allowed in the first place. Any fee that is compulsory for the receipt of anything of value is not deductible under current tax law for non-profits. I don’t know of any legislation that actually exempted college athletic departments. They’ve just always gotten away with it.

Who cares if the iptay contribution is tax deductible. I file a short form every year because my home is paid for, my clemson graduate child was paid in full upon graduation with no student loans and i’m Retired at 62. I gladly make my donations every year and don’t expect the government to subsidies it. If it is something you love, why would you expect that? Thanks, JM, Florence SC
