I think promoting Scott would be a bad idea. If he sucks and they have to "replace" him we would lose our best recruiter. Kinda like what happen with Bubble Screen Billy a few years back...

He's learned straight from Chad. We just need a strong QB Coach to compliment him. JS is leaving for an OC job if we don't give it to him, so give him the chance. I think he will do just fine!

By the same token, coaches want to move up in their profession, especially when the move up could come at the same school where they've paid dues as a position coach. For Scott it may be if not now when and if not here where? I don't think Jeff wants to stay a position coach at Clemson forever just because he loves it here.
