he didn't do anything without Shaka Smart on the bench

If he stayed after Smart left his record would be worst than his record at Depaul,Bares is the one we need back

Its funny that people were so ready to get rid of him here. When I was at Clemson (2001-2005) Clemson Basketball was TERRIBLE. Back then the ACC only had 9 teams, and the opening game of the ACC tournament was the "play in" game, which was a game between the two worst ACC teams (The #8 and #9 teams). Clemson played in that game so often that we jokingly called it the "Larry Shyatt invitational".

Then Purnell came in and slowly improved the program until it made the NCAA tournament 3 years in a row. But the fan base complained that Purnell couldn't take the program further than the first round of the NCAA tournament...and the Athletic department refused to improve the facilities...So Purnell left.

Now, years later, we wish we could back to the level of the Purnell years...grass is always greener I guess

OP left...and he had reasons that transcend the program. He did the right thing...his wick was spent.

He's retired in Florida. Think if he wanted to coach some more he would easily found a job at the mid-major level. He got a sweet deal for his time at Depaul. Probably enjoying like now.
He was at Demontez Stitt's funeral in July.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

If we are going to re-do coaches, I'll take Barnes instead.

He was an a-hole but I love the way he didn't let the ACC refs push him around.
