I would think this would make the Democrats

Sep 8, 2020, 1:57 PM

*less* likely to win these states, unless they are new voters. I think the biggest risk to mail-in votes it the vote not being counted, due to being somehow lost.

I think we should make it easy for everyone to vote

Sep 8, 2020, 2:04 PM

Including mail-in. But I think in-person is the best, for now, and would recommend that to anyone.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That said, you still can't *know* that it's counted

for in-person voting, really. But I'd have more confidence that way, personally.

I like voting by mail then...

voting in person twice.

Well my point is if you can go to the grocery store then you can go out and vote. This will remove any doubt unless you are hoping to change an election with fraud.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You can indeed, and health officials have said so.

Sep 8, 2020, 2:30 PM

Some people may not be personally comfortable doing so, and that is their choice, but the appropriate authorities have cleared the way for in-person voting.

What about going to the grocery store there would be no difference.

Not sure what you mean...I agreed with you.***

Interesting take. Never thought of it that way...could be right.

Can't wait for all the voter suppression stories...

Sep 8, 2020, 2:30 PM

Due to lost/not on time/etc. absentee ballots.

*Requests absentee ballot*

Ballot doesn't arrive in time, or thrown out, etc.

Goes to polling location and can't vote.

Anger ensues.

Surely that will never happen.

Well deme should vote via mail in and then go to the polls and vote again ... just to make sure * wink wink

how many times do I have to say that you get a code

and you can track your ballot.

There are 50 different sets of voting rules.

Sep 8, 2020, 2:47 PM

No one can claim all absentee voting is bad and no one can claim it is good because of the rules, safety features and practice of absentee voting is not standardised.

Universal mailin voting only happens in a few states and from reports I've read the longer the process is practiced the more easily it is to manage. I'm guessing the rules get refined and the public gets better at following the rules which leads to less rejections and better representation of what the public wants.

I believe ballot rejection is going to be the big issue in the upcoming election. Second to that will be ballots arriving after they are lawfully received. This is what all the lawyers are being hired to influence.

I do not expect to know the result of the election

Sep 8, 2020, 2:49 PM

on the night of, or even the week of, Election Day. That is OK. I just pray for a peaceful resolution that has the confidence of the people.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

rules will be changed when counting ballots, my prediction

Sep 8, 2020, 2:50 PM [ in reply to There are 50 different sets of voting rules. ]

they'll say, ALL VOTES MUST BE COUNTED.

Even if mailed post-allowable date.

Re: rules will be changed when counting ballots, my prediction

Sep 8, 2020, 3:06 PM

I don't care what they do or how they do it as long as the person with the most legal voters gets elected. 62% of the voters say they will vote in person. 129 million in 2016 so expect maybe 50 million.

Imo, the more focus on mailin ballot fraud the more likely people will vote at the polls. As long as dems continue to believe republicans are the cheaters and republican continue to believe dems are the cheaters the number of people who vote in person will continue to grow.
