Jet sweep

I’ve heard some announcers speak of teams that don’t have a legitimate passing game using the jet sweep to offset that lack there of but I don’t understand why a team like ours still couldn’t benefit from it. Would appreciate any thoughts from those of you who have some insight on this

I would say it’s more for a team without a good run game

Instead of trying to line up and pound it up the middle, you give it to your speed guys with a head start to stretch the field and keep it away from their big uglies

I think it's mainly that fact that when your RB is averaging 8 yards per carry, it makes more sense to give him the majority of those running touches rather than run the risk of having a WR get tackled for loss in the backfield. I do agree that the sweep could be run a few more times in some games to catch the defense off guard.

I meant using the jet sweep as a motion move and not necessarily handing the ball off to the WR each time its used.

Old timers connect it to a lack of a passing game because most people say it spawned out of either the single wing or Wing T.

As the other posters have said, it fit in pretty well during the 2 single highest seasons we've ever had in passing yards (2015 & 2016).
