Who was the greatest ACC Basketball Coach of all time???

Jan 27, 2014, 9:47 PM

Everett Case??

Deano??

Coach K??

Charles G. Driesell??

Stormin' Norman Sloan??

Jimmy V??

Bones McKinney??

Of course, now that Syracuse has been added to the conference, Boeheim's name MUST be put into consideration though I daresay the world will remember him in the Big East.

others??

For me, its gotta be Coach K considering he just won his 900th game along with all the conference titles and NC's....and he doesn't appear ready to retire anytime soon.

By the time Barnes arrived the shot clock was implemented

Jan 28, 2014, 3:27 PM

Dean was always in favor of the shot clock

Jan 28, 2014, 4:01 PM

he just did what he could to win under the rules

4 final fours and one NCAA title after the shot clock was adopted

Matt Doherty. I always respected him for that. Although he did recruit some talent for Roy. Now I'm conflicted.

Dean Smith. He ran a clean program and had more success

Jan 28, 2014, 10:51 AM

Than Roy boy and Lefty did running the dirtiest programs on Earth. And he did it through teaching boys to be men.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dean Smith ran a clean program? BULLS4IT!

Jan 28, 2014, 3:29 PM

He ran what looked like a clean program....but it wasn't clean by any means.

Vic Bubas?

Jan 28, 2014, 4:08 PM

not saying he's the greatest, but he certainly deserves to be in the conversation..

seems like i saw a stat recently that he has the best road record in conference games of any coach in ACC history... Roy W is second... couldn't find anything to confirm that with a quick search

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dean Smith was just an average coach who had superior...

Jan 28, 2014, 4:43 PM

talent. With the talent he had, if he was a great coach he would have had 5-8 national titles.
