Monte's pulling the old "hit your way out of a slump" tactic with Jolly, forcing him to get at bats hoping he'll connect on one and break him out. However, he left SEVEN men on base last night. Not good

jolly is the whipping boy now. not long ago the goobers in here we up in arms when he was not in the lineup. logan has been it, beer has been it, wharton has been it. and guess what hall will be it after he plays a little more and hits a little slump.

I didn't say Jolly shouldn't be playing. The only way to break out of a slump is to get at bats...can't get a hit if you're on the bench. Just simply pointing out he left 7 men on base in a 1-run game last night...have to be better than that

He’s 4 for his last 40. For the year he’s hitting .200 (which is actually much better than I thought) in acc play with 6 rbi. He’s not our best anything. What intangibles are you talking about? Just curious.

“When he hits a slump.” Well deroberts why wouldn’t monte wait for him to do that before benching him in a crucial situation. I guess you and Monte both know that Sam Hall just wasn’t going to get a hit last night

Maybe we should just accept who we are which is a .250 hitting team instead of hoping the freshman can come in and raise that.
I will say that baseball isn’t a win every game mentality like football. Maybe Monte is trying to get Jolly ready for the post season at the sacrifice of the right now. Only thing I can think is the older guy may handle the pressure of post season better than a freshman? Jolly is what Jolly is... a .200 hitter who gives great effort and is a tough out, but an out none the less in most ABs.

Of course he is... I said the same thing and Gilliam that he was probably pissed at himself too but his problems were mental. I don’t think Jolly is having a mental hurdle, I think he is just an average hitter but gets the most of his ABs. Just hope he can maybe get hot which I’m sure the thought is.
