I watched Deshaun drive off into the sunset

Jan 10, 2017, 10:23 PM

I was riding shotgun down I-85, watching the live news feed of the buses roll towards exit 19B. We were a few exits behind and it was a game of cat & mouse, but we couldn't catch the Tigers. Blockades and not having the luxury of a police escort slowed us down & we lagged further & further behind. Hanging out of the passenger side window, I let my Tiger Rag fly in the wind. My friend & I finally parked & ran over to the West Endzone, but the buses were already gone. The crowd was massive. I'm sure many of you were there. I was furiously snapping pictures on my Nikon when a small crowd roared. I looked over and saw Deshaun being escorted to his car by a few Troopers. I stood in a crowd of maybe a hundred people who parted like the Alabama defense in crunch time. He waved as he crept through the crowd in his car & turned the corner towards the sunset, then it dawned on me. I just watched the greatest quarterback in Clemson history, who lead the greatest offense in Clemson history against arguably the greatest dynasty in college football history, drive away into the sunset. I'm a few years older than Deshaun, so it may seem kind of cheesy, but I'm sure a lot of us pretended to be Clemson's quarterback when we were kids. Everyone has their connections to Clemson, mine are not as strong as many of yours. I'm not an alum, nor are any of my relatives. When I was a teenager I worked at Burger King and every week I spent my entire paycheck on Clemson tickets. I would show up hours before the game & walk around the stadium looking for anybody who would grace me with a chance to get inside the gates. It's been a pleasure to watch the program grow under Swinney's lead & cheer with you fellow Tigers. Thank you, Deshaun, and thank you to the hundreds of players who helped get us here. We're on top, finally. Go Tigers.

Sorry for any typos and grammatical errors, I'm running on two hours of sleep & I'm on my phone.

Wow, well done!
Reading this brought on (yet another) tear in the last, nearly 24 hours....

If you have a love for Clemson, then you're a Tiger.

It doesn't matter if you're an alum, student, donor, IPTAY member, professor, season ticket holder, or whatever. If you ache in the defeats and bask in the victories for Clemson, you're a Clemson Tiger.

There's something in these hills.

Hadn't thought about it till now, but since he's graduated, that may be his last appearance on campus for awhile. Dabo stated in one of his pressers that he will be meeting with the 2017 team on Thursday.

than those who have been around for years or were raised here and seen this all our lives. :)
That's the beauty of it. Esp. someone who "sold all he had" for tix. That's like the widow lady in the bible. She gave more than the rich people.
