Did they have no choice but to pitch it to Beer ?
I can't imagine they'd let him bat if they coulda walked him .

Bases were empty with 2 outs. The pitcher just flat out blew the pitch and Beer hit a liner straight into the Cajun Cafe making it look so easy. It was a thing of beauty for sure

As a pitcher, you don't throw a 'good' strike in a situation such as that. Make the batter hit a bad strike. The BC pitcher didn't do that. It's easier said than done! Groove one to a proven hitter and you are playing with dynamite

very true. a "bad" strike is the worst pitch a pitcher can

throw. as for a previous poster, 94-97 mph or whatever doesn't mean anything if it's straight. no movement on the pitch and it may as well be on a tee.
