They had a red carpet ceremony for the film and screened it at the old Astro in Clemson when it came out in 1974.

I happened to be at the old Holiday Inn cafeteria over on the lake one morning with one of my female friends. Burt Lancaster was there eating breakfast. She went over to ask for his autograph. She got it but she said he was an ### about it.

You can tell it is 70's era clemson because of the distinct architectural stylings and the furniture is made from Oconee Live Oak.

I remember seeing the film on TV in the 1990s. I had no idea it was filmed in Clemson, but I recognized the campus as he walked beneath the oaks between Hardin and Tillman/Johnstone. I recognized it immediately.

Agree, I thought it was flat out horrible. I was there during the time it was being filmed, and I do remember some rumblings about Lancaster being a Prima Donna Arsewhole as well.

I remember them filming around campus and watched some of the filming at the Calhoun mansion. Some guys in Johnstone had a roll of toilet paper on the ledge and the director yelled through a megaphone "Can we get the music roll off the ledge"?
