a snake. I don't care what kind it was it's a reptile.

Came back in and couldn't find the dog. Oh wait he's cowering in the garden tub. SMH!

I caught a hatchling ringneck snake this morning out walking the pup. Would have brought it back home but the thing wouldn't calm down enough that I worried about it hurting itself.

Shot a moccasin swimming across the pond yesterday. #4 buckshot with full choke at 50 yds. nailed hisass. #4 bs nilated a mushrat/muskrat at 20 yds also. I like that load for varmits.

On the other hand, I've been seeing my monster black snakes and king snakes the last week. Occasionally I will catch one and put them in the warehouse if I'm seeing mouse signs. Snakes don't bother me as long as I see them before I get too close. Stepping on them or dropping in the boat with me still gets me every time!

Black king snake in chicken house tring to steal eggs. Medium size. Grabbed him and walked him out into the woods about 1/2 mile away from chicken house to let him go. Stupid thing crapped all over my arm while I was toting him away. Not stinky, just messy like melted chocolate. Not pleasant.


Then a rabbit. My neighbor down the road is Russian and raises these huge rabbits that he eats (he says, I never went to his house for dinner). He lets them roam wild around his house. They get so fat they can't run/hop fast. Sometimes they wander over to my place. So this one was in my yard today eating grass...big black rabbit, big as a raccoon. It tried to move when I approached, but didn't get 10 feet. Scooped him up and carried him back over to neighbors property. Docile, but had some dang strong back legs, tried to kick a couple times.

Good contact-with-nature day.
