so got a medical bill unexpectedly 6 months later

Jun 22, 2020, 9:07 PM

had to go to emergency room in Dec, but they didnt have a particular specialist at the hospital so they told me to go to another hospital. But wouldnt allow my wife to drive me and made me take an ambulance 10 miles.

$3400 freakin bucks for something they made me do. Can i get out of this?

any hospital scam experts out there?

I was in the hospital at the end of January. I got one bill

two weeks ago from the nurse anesthetist, and another one from attending ER doc a week or two before that. It seems it may never end, and I don't understand why it takes so long to be billed. You think you're all done, but nope.

you can probably negotiate that down, your ins company can probably help

Call the billing dept. be polite.

Jun 22, 2020, 11:46 PM

Ask them what the discount is for paying it all at once (if you can). Don’t ask them if they have a discount, use the assumptive close and ask the. How much it is.

I’ve seen as much as 40-50% knocked off with this tactic. The hospital is ok doing it because they don’t have you on a payment plan that they may or may not collect, and the billing rep looks good on their monthly stats for quickly getting a bill to zero balance with little effort.

That might work.

But it won't get guaranteed results. If you want guaranteed results, I suggest an armed hostage situation that involves massive media coverage to get this issue out in front of the public and creating leverage for the ask.

Start with Obed version

If they refuse to negotiate, ask them to send your debt to collections because they 100% will negotiate! At least 50% off.
