Retiring numbers

While I like the idea of retiring numbers, I really like the way that UNC does their basketball numbers. Obviously, with a tradition as rich as UNC basketball and fewer numbers to retire, they could run out of numbers fairly quickly, so they just hang banners in the ceiling of the Dean Dome with the name and number on it, honoring the player and the number without taking the number out of the rotation. When I used to shoot the basketball coach's show for Larry and Oliver, it was always impressive going to Chapel Hill and seeing all that history in the ceiling. It kind of ties in the old with the new, much like what we are doing with Deshaun and Steve.
