horseshoes: you make your pitches hoping for good landings but often finding them coming up short. Which, of course, prompts hoots and hollers from your opponents. Nevermind that their own pitches usually resemble yours, which gives you the chance for the same outbursts. When you decide to end the match, you pick up the shoes, go home and say, "Screw it...I'll get em tomorrow!" And it goes on and on and on....
