my surroundings and I initially think that I'm awake or just in the process of waking up. When I realize I can't move, brain figures out, "Hey mo fo...you still asleep." Weeeeeird.

But not sleep paralysis. Basically my deal is right as I'm drifting off to sleep I'll have some muscle jolt that wakes me up. Could be an arm twitch, leg thrust, etc.
