The only reason Brad has a job is the fanboy media

So to people like Qualkinbush, Kelly Gramlich, Matt Connolly, Larry Williams, Grace Raynor, Anna Hickey, Mickey Plyler and yes even the fine folks at TNet: thank you.
Thank you for never questioning our coaches. Thank you for never asking tough questions. (Which QB sill start is not a tough question.) Thank you for never questioning Jack Leggett eventhough he was clearly in decline. Thank you for letting Brad get away with being mediocre. Thank you for not digging deeper into how exactly did three players test positive for a PED? (I’d like to know so we can prevent it from happening again.)
Thank you for writing puff pieces and blowing smoke, I assume it pays the bills better than the truth. (I recognize times have never been tougher for beat writers. I’m not without compassion, and Clemson is not the only school with fanboy media.)
But if the media spoke the truth about Brad Brownell, he’d be gone. He can’t recruit at a high level. His teams play mostly a boring style of basketball. They consistently lose close games. And they have never, ever, been a treat to win anything resembling a trophy.
Best is clearly NOT the standard.

A lot of them do work for the Clemson radio network. They’re not about to criticize him and rock the boat.

Ok, I'll pretend you are a Clemson fan and respond.
First, are you asking media members whose livelihood is based on getting information and interviews from Clemson coaches and players to bash Clemson coaches and players?
Do you think they would continue to get information to relay to the fans?
Second, are you upset that DRad had a plan and waited to have a replacement for Leggett before getting rid of him? Did you realize that none of the former Clemson coaches would take the job because DRad did what needed to be done and forced out Leggett?
Third, the university is spending lots of money to figure out the Ostarine issue. If Dexter Lawrence still doesn't know where it came from, what purpose would the media hounding DRad and the coaches serve?
Finally, just looking at the front page of Tigernet, by "fluff" pieces do you mean tons of articles about all of the players headed to the NFL from the football program, the 3 articles on how the basketball team lost a huge game in the ACC tourney, are disappointed in their season and that they fell short of expectations, and how they hope they can still play well in spite of their disappointment, or the 1 baseball headline about sweeping UNC?
I hate to tell you that none of these people get to weigh in on the hiring and firing of Clemson coaches.
I bet you are a fan of Skip Bayless.

I mostly agree with you. The media-coach relationship...

at places like Clemson is always going to be lopsided. The national media don't care about Clemson basketball coaching (they barely care about Clemson football even with all the success we've had). The local media need to stay on coaches' good sides in order to get them to give the boring soundbites that we then consume as though they're breaking news. If the local media express an opinion that is contrarian, ask tough (albeit obvious) questions, or get to the bottom of real issues, they get blackballed by coaches, and the cozy relationship between WCCP/Tigernet/other outlets and Clemson athletics gets strained. The local media can't afford that.
The WCCP relationship is especially interesting. The WCCP employee list and the Clemson radio employee list is inextricable. And Walt, who usually tells it like it is, won't tell the truth on the Brownell issue for some reason.
When administrators are unwilling to make coaching changes, only fans have the power to make it happen by being vocal about their opinions, and not going to games; or if they go to games, they have to be vocal about the issue there.
