I thought the play-calling was great...that's the difference

Sep 10, 2017, 12:03 PM

in Scelliot and Morris. I love Chad Morris, but that was the type of game he would get frustrated, force the issue, and we'd have a bad turnover or create a short field at a bad time.

If we've learned anything the last two years about Scelliott, it's that they are not going to force things. They will take what you give them, and take measured shots. They are not afraid to lean on the defense until they get a good feel for the game.

I thought the playcalling was great. We ran the ball, and went outside against the 1 on 1. I feel like they communicate with the defensive staff and talk about how conservative or how risky they are going to get, which is a big deal.

And how about Kelly Bryant?? 19-29 for 181 yds. is pretty d@mn efficient. He didn't turn it over, and made some really good throws. The 19 carries for 59 yds. is huge as well. This is definitely his team, and he looks like he can make all the throws. A lot of his performance speaks to playcalling as well.

And keep in mind-- Auburn's defense is the real deal. They are nasty, and may be the best one we see all year.

Auburn has a great defense, but

I think FSU is the more complete unit as a whole. They'll bring speed that Auburn can't match, either.

I expect our OL to be in better shape by then, along with the whole offense.

I don't know... AU was fast, and you have to like how

Steele put them in positions to make plays. We were better than them outside at key moments, and Scelliot stayed with the run until we broke one...

but I was impressed with their D -- they were fast and tough inside.

FSU will be tough as well, and how they use Derwin James will be interesting.

I was impressed with the Auburn secondary

When we completed passes they were always in position. It took great throws by Bryant and catches by our receivers to gain passing yards.

I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me.

This. Most of the short and no gain runs by KB were basically coverage sacks. No one open, pocket collapses, dive forward for 2. Auburn's secondary and pass rush were on fire. KB made good decisions and did not turn it over, which is all you can do in that situation. You know our guys are covered well when we resort to back shoulder throws to the outside targeting the shortest receiver on the team (Ray Ray). We did that at least twice, which tells me the taller guys are not getting open.

Agree about Morris getting frustrated. Sometimes he got impatient like a lot of folks on tnet.+1

I was formally known as Furious george and have changed my name to match the name I use to call on WCCP radio.

Wow, consider me impressed Yorktown

Good points. Would like to have seen us use the middle

some in the plan. The one where BK got whacked Renfrow was wide open with no safety. Throw was off target due to hit. Would have liked to see that one run again.

I understand playing not to make mistakes when your D is in control.
But we had the ball 3 or 4 times in a row at around the 50 yard line.
It's also important to take the pressure off of your D.
Just a FG and the game would have been over in the 3rd early 4th quarter.
A bunch of 3 and outs will eventually bite you in the tail.
