Does the jet sweep come back this week?

Sep 29, 2015, 7:44 AM

Seems that play has been sidelined this year in the first 3 games. I can't recall them even
running it once.

I believe we will see it against the domers.

Artavis to the house....one more time

Wow I'm stoked for this game!

I don't think so. The reason it worked so well, so many times with USuC is they were SOOO SLOOOW. I think ND's defense is pretty quick.

In fact, I worry about the quick sideline pass. I saw them ALMOST at the receiver BEFORE the ball last week. Would suck to have a pick 6 trying to run that play!

Need more TE passes. Sideline pass almost got picked against UL if memory serves. And Artavis did run a jet sweep to the right for modest gain.

If they give us the corners, of course it does. Helps us

Sep 29, 2015, 8:06 AM

spread the field. If not, we'll pick the middle apart. We are going to be fine.

We will take what they give us. The areas on we have thrown so many screens the last two years is because DBs play off our wide receivers because they don't want to get burnt. If the play press coverage we will see more deep balls and Qb runs.

So were the co-coordinators staying vanilla in the UL game

for ND?

There's something in these hills.

As vanilla as they could. I had this conversation yesterday

Sep 29, 2015, 8:45 AM

with a coworker. The Jet sweep and bubble screen will def be used to get their CB's peeking and pull their safeties up. This will open Peake on some deep posts and Scott on some deep sideline routes. Man do we miss Mike Williams in this situation though.

I would love to see a jet sweep to Scott and pass to Peake on a deep crossing route. Someone make sure Scott and Elliot read this!!!

Yes we really miss Williams for those stretch plays.

The chemistry that he and Watson had is difficult to replace. We also miss the depth that Battle and Reader brought to the lines.

please dont run this, it would be a penalty

Sep 29, 2015, 9:14 AM [ in reply to As vanilla as they could. I had this conversation yesterday ]

the way we run the jet sweep, it is actually a forward pass due that we pitch it forward. Therefore, you cant then pass it again. To do this you wold have to alter the play and have Scott run behind DW and DW would have to turn back to hand the ball off. Another way would be for Scott to run thru the jet sweep and DW hit him with a swing pass (Scott would need to make sure to run back a bit so it would be a backward pass)

I think we will see some trickery

Sep 29, 2015, 9:11 AM

ND pulled a couple trick plays vs. Virginia a couple weeks ago, as did Virginia. I expect to see the Tigers line up a few times similar to the TD @ Louisville; try and throw the D off.

I also expect Gallman to continue to pound the rock. He will go over 100 yds again and DW goes for 3 TDs.

We'll see some jet sweeps to Scott, maybe a reverse

Sep 29, 2015, 9:18 AM

But I prefer our best passer, Watson, to throw the ball

We don't need trick plays...

Remember the one from Watkins aimed at Boyd v Coots?

For relaxing times, make it Suntory time

IDK about the jet sweep but the down field passing better show its head. Or it could be a long night.
With all the speed and talent somebody has to get open.
DW will have to find them, he may have to roll out or step up but somebody has to be open.
