Remember back a few years ago we'd have these guys that blew up or supposedly were having "their best spring" ever only to end up rarely playing or making any kind of meaningful contribution? You always have the "coach speak...maybe the light will come on for him, or so-and-so is really stepping up..." That kind of talk is either trying to motivate a certain player or two or more.
Well, I think now the "coach speak" has evolved into "he's showing great leadership skills, he's the leader in the room, he does everything we ask of him, I hope he's not leaving". From now on when we hear this I think it's code for he's thinking about or planning to transfer, he'll have his degree, we love him, he'll always be a Tiger. It'a also code for we're not going to bad mouth this kid but we don't really need him and hopefully some coach will give him a shot.
We really never know about these kids, we assume they're getting better...we just go off the "coach speak". Just my 2 cents.
